The Becker Necker is one of those rare things for knife collectors: a great blade at a cheap price. Although marketed as a neck knife, the BK11 actually feels more suited as a small belt knife for general use. In fact when comparing the knife to more popular competitors like the Rat Cutlery RC-3, the BK11 is able to hold its own while still maintaining a reasonable price point. With a few small changes to the knife and its included accessories, I feel the Becker Necker would become a hit for affordable outdoor use knives. The Leatherman Fuse is a high value, medium duty multi-tool. I carry this tool with me everyday and it fits that role perfectly. However, I would not recommend this multi-tool in a bug-out bag or when camping due to the fact that it lacks a saw, file, and awl, which are tools i find essential in that role (but it's better than nothing). It has a solid construction and is very comfortable in hand. Leatherman has a 25 year warranty on all their products. MIne came with a leather sheath (not recommended). I suggest getting a nylon sheath made by leatherman if you want to carry it on you belt. Unfortunately the stainless version of the Fuse, as I showed, is now retired. However, I did see that they are still available at retailers as of February 2012 but get them while they last because once they are gone, they are gone. The Black oxide version is still in production for military/le. I wanted to add a neck knife to my collection and this model was recommended as a good starter. When you get the knife, you also get the case and a bit of 550 paracord. Modding this kit is extensive, you can do a lot to make this a mini EDC. It's smaller than I expected, but it is a heavy knife. It's a thick piece of metal. Another feature is the bottle opener and wire snapper. The bottle opener works well but make sur you have the knife in a case before you start holding the blade. I haven't used this knife to its full potential yet, I've haven't been in situations where I used it enough. My thoughts and views on the SOG Trident TF-2 plain edge folding knife. I have owned several of SOG's folding knives over the years and they've all fallen a bit short of the mark in terms of overall build quality and fit & finish. The Trident now stands as my favorite of the bunch and a knife with which I have very few complaints: it's a quality knife, well-suited to many tasks and ready for years of daily use. For me, the Trident's most striking feature is its wonderful clip point blade. The sweeping lines and thin edge look great and the knife cuts beautifully. The tip of the blade is tapered very thin for excellent piercing but may be a bit on the delicate side for those who are looking for a hard use knife or have an occasional tendency to (*gasp!*) pry with their blades. The AUS-8 steel performs well in its class and sharpens quickly. Edge retention is typical for the steel type; most users will find the Trident needs only occasional touch-ups, while frequent and aggressive cutting tasks will warrant a more diligent sharpening regimen. Typically I prefer my knives to engage manually, rather than leaping open with every flick, as is the result with an assisted-opening knife. While the Trident is indeed spring-assisted, the mechanism works well and defaults aggressively into the handle; there is little chance of the knife opening in your pocket.
