Wolfwalker solo hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in California Southbound SECTION D. (7/29/12 - 8/3/12). This section goes 112.5 miles from Agua Dulce under the 14 fwy to Cajon Pass under the 15 fwy. I started a few miles into section E so I added 2.5 miles for a total of 115. I saw no thru hikers or section hikers the entire time. The trail was empty except for a pair of overnighters on my second day. One of them had to get airlifted off the trail due to heat/water issues. ( Cactus and Ishay... I hope you are ok ). It was a true solo experience. I did see some day hikers near Mt. Baden Powell. My friends came to hang out and camp out my last night on the trail. We stayed around Blue Ridge Campground and had an awesome night. I might be the last one doing this section for the Summer. There was barely any water for 3 days. If it wasnt for some left over trail magic I would not have made it. Most of the small streams have dryed, Poodle Dog Bush was EVERYWHERE and the temps were hitting 90-100+ so beware....It is possible, but try a section with more water. 6 days - 5 camps 115 miles 19.1 miles a day avg. ( 16m shortest, 26m longest )

I've modified the sheath to make it into an urban survival knife by adding a fire steel rod, a sharpener, paracord, reflective and duct tape, and a fishing line and hook. This knife is light, balanced, and tough. The blade is made of AUS 6 S/S, which makes it hard to get a good edge in the field. That said, it maintains an edge better than my carbon blade knives. I'd recommend this knife to anyone looking for a decent camping/utility knife. A straight edge would be better for bushcraft, but for urban survival applications, the serrations will gnaw right through metals, plastics, nylons, and other synthetics with ease. The protective sheath and managable size make this a safe knife for all skill levels.

This is the drop down bed I constructed in the cab of my self-build Iveco Daily motorhome. The bed is for my 18 month old daughter. The bed wasn't quite finished for this photo and now has a guard across the front to stop her rolling out and will also have a safety net to stop her climbing out. The bed is raised and lowered by a system of rigging made out of 3mm paracord 550 line. There is quite a bit of friction in it as I'm using nylon fairleads to guide the rope and not pulley blocks. There is one hidden 2:1 pulley block enclosed in the left side to reduce the effort needed to lift it.

Perma Lok lacing needles can be found from various online sources, or you can make your own lacing needles, and there are tutorials for making those online as well. 2nd layer of the 10-foot whip I'm making. I got to crack it and it looks promising. This layer took me roughly 5 or 6 hours to make and I used 50 feet of paracord per 2 plaits (which I call strings for some reason). Also when I say I dropped a string I mean I took 2 plaits off of it. I'm still working on the logistics of the handle.

Hi everyone! This is my review of the Century Martial Arts Corded Redwood Octagonal Tapered Nunchaku. I lied, here is the link to the chuck! www.centurymartialarts.com Review synopsis: -Heavy! Be careful with them! -Cheap Nylon Cord that was glued in (I recommend restringing with paracord) -Mine gave me a splinter. Might just be my bad luck or something CM doesn't care about. -Good looking wood, it's octagonal, tapered from 1inch to 1 1/4 inch, and red wood, i think. -Swings pretty well, good for practice before switching to normal to light weight chux. ======== Final verdict: 7/10 If you buy them, you're really just paying for the wood since you should restring them as with any chuck that is not chain or does not use strong cording such as paracord. Get them if you have bucks to kill and you're looking for a really heavy chuck or you want to try a heavy chuck. Don't get them if you don't like heavies. Also check for splinters and abnormalities, as with any nunchaku, or anything you ever buy!
